So currently, this equation is in slope-intercept form. In this form, we see that a is the slope and the y-intercept is (0,b). Using this info, put (0,b) and (x,y) into the slope formula and have it equal to a:

For this, multiply both sides by x and your point-slope form will be: [tex] y-b=a(x) [/tex]
